The new location will be staffed by all of the orthopedic specialists from the MOA team based in Morgantown, West Virginia, including:

Dr. Jacob Conjeski

As a West Virginia native, Dr. Conjeski is an orthopedic and adult reconstructive surgeon who joined MOA in September 2017. He received his undergraduate degree from West Virginia University in Mechanical Engineering and his medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine. During medical school, he was ranked as one of the top two medical students presented with the John E. Prescott Award and inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society.

During residency, he was the recipient of the Resident of the Year Award. He was recognized for his research at Lenox Hill Hospital and received the Best Fellow Manuscript Award. He co-authored a book chapter on the correction of fixed valgus deformities of the knee in the textbook Complex Cases in Total Knee Arthroplasty. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Matthew Darmelio

Dr. Matthew Darmelio is a native of Follansbee, West Virginia and has been practicing in North Central West Virginia for more than 10 years. He joined the MOA team in June of 2005. Darmelio received his undergraduate degree at West Virginia University in Physical Therapy and his medical degree at the West Virginia University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at West Virginia University.

Dr. Darmelio is fellowship-trained in Sports Medicine at Methodist Sports Medicine Center, Indianapolis, Indiana. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and has been certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons since 2002.

Dr. Darmelio continuously updates his training to reflect the most recent orthopedic treatment options and techniques for his patients.

Dr. Chad Micucci

Dr. Micucci is a native of Follansbee, West Virginia and has been practicing in North Central West Virginia since 2010. He joined Mountainstate Orthopedic Associates, Inc. in September of 2010. He received his undergraduate degree at West Virginia University in Physical Therapy and his medical degree at the West Virginia University School of Medicine. After medical school, he completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Micucci completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at Orthopedic Research of Virginia.

He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and has been certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons since 2012. He is also a member of the Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA).

Dr. Micucci received multiple awards during his training, including the American Orthopedic Association Resident Leadership Award. He continuously updates his training to reflect the most recent orthopedic treatment options and techniques for his patients. He frequently gives talks to the surrounding community on knee injuries and arthritis and their treatments. Dr. Micucci has been published in numerous orthopedic journals, include The Arthroscopy Journal. He serves as team physician for Clay Battelle, North Marion, Jefferson Morgan High School and Mapletown High Schools.

Dr. Matthew Schessler

Raised in Charleston, West Virginia, Dr. Matt Schessler looks forward to continuing his career in North Central West Virginia. He joined Mountainstate Orthopedic Associates in September 2017. He received his undergraduate degrees from West Virginia University in Chemistry and Biochemistry and his medical degree from the West Virginia University School of Medicine. Following medical school, he completed his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dr. Schessler completed fellowship training in Hand and Upper Extremity Surgery at Tufts Medical Center and New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.

During medical school, Dr. Schessler served as the vice president for the WVU School of Medicine class of 2011. He was elected to membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Societies. Dr. Schessler’s research has been published and presented at national conferences. During his residency, he served as the football team physician for Pittsburgh area high schools.

Dr. Chris Vasilakis

Dr. Chris Vasilakis is a native of Ambridge, Pennsylvania and has been practicing in North Central WestVirginia for over five years. Dr. Vasilakis joined Mountainstate Orthopedic Associates, Inc. in May of 2008. He received his undergraduate degree at Carnegie Mellon University and his medical degree at the West Virginia University School of Medicine. Following medical school, he completed an internship in General Surgery at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh and his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at West Virginia University.

Prior to joining Mountainstate Orthopedic Associates, Inc., Dr. Vasilakis practiced within the Pittsburgh community for over 10 years. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and has been certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons since 2000.

Dr. Vasilakis is a member of the quality committee, trauma committee and utilization review committee at Mon Health Hospital. He has served as the chief of surgery at Jameson hospital in New Castle, Pennsylvania. He continuously updates his training with orthopedic surgery specific continuing medical education credits.  He has participated in radio talk shows and community discussion on arthritis treatments.

Dr. Nick Zervos

As a native of Glen Dale, West Virginia, Dr. Nick Zervos has been practicing in North Central West Virginia for over 10 years. Dr. Zervos joined Mountainstate Orthopedic Associates, Inc. in June of 1997.  He received his undergraduate degree at West Virginia University and his medical degree at the West Virginia University School of Medicine. Following medical school, he completed an internship at the University of Cincinnati in the Department of Orthopedics and his residency in Orthopedic Surgery at West Virginia University.  Dr. Zervos completed a mini-fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at Midland Hospital in Midland, Michigan. Dr. Zervos has a special interest in arthroscopic produces of the shoulder, knee and ankle.

He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and has been certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons since 2000.

Dr. Zervos serves as a clinical professor of Orthopedic Surgery at West Virginia University Hospital. He continuously updates his training to reflect the most recent orthopedic treatment options and techniques for his patients.  He serves as the team physician for Morgantown High School.
